Estelle Ackumey

 Student Artist
  Hello, everyone!

My name is Estelle Ackumey, as you can see per the title of this page, and I am a 16 year old artist currently attending Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School in Prince William County, Virginia. As of now, I am a sophomore in their incredible Visual Arts program and I'm learning so much. The teachers are extremely passionate in what they do and are eager to help their students thrive within the arts.

Through the program, I have been able to further expand on my art skills by being able to experiment in a variety of different mediums. I've had several opportunities to try both 2D and 3D art in all sorts of materials over the last two years being in the program. I've loved art for as long as I can remember, but got into a bit of a stump in middle school, as I wasn't sure how to properly improve my skills. By joining Colgan CFPA (Center for the Fine and Performing Arts) I was thankfully guided out of that artistic rut.

Now, I am learning what mediums I prefer to work in over the others and am trying to find my personal way of producing finished pieces with a distinct feel that are clearly individual to me as an artist. That doesn't mean anything is off the table. I am always finding ways to improve and learning of new ways to do things.

If you'd like to know more about my artistic journey in depth, you can take a glance at the "About me" tab. Also, if you're curious about the work I've done so far, you can look through the "Freshman" and "Sophomore" tabs to see some of the pieces I've created that show my improvement.
